Watercolor Birthday Card

I made this card for my good friend Marla's 50th birthday.  I love how it turned out!

I started out by misting watercolor paper with water.  Then, using an acrylic block, I dropped several drops of each color reinker on the block and misted the ink with water until it started to run together.  I quickly turned the block over and pressed onto the moist watercolor paper.  Dry the paper with a heat gun before stamping the main image.

Colors: Cotton Candy, Gypsy, Pear, Sky
Stamps: Happy Birthday, Quick Card - Butterfly, Love Life
Sparkles: Blue/Green and Pink/Purple assortments

Wisped Frames Technique Tag

This technique is called Wisped Frames.

Stamp and color your focal image.  Using post-it notes, create a frame outside the image and stipple ink in the corners, creating a frame.  Very simple to do!

Brayered Brilliance Technique Tag

This technique is called Brayered Brilliance.
You stamp the image on glossy cardstock in metallic brilliance ink and heat set.
Then, brayer a light colored ink in the background and heat set.
Next, stamp the same image in a medium tone ink (same color family) and heat set.
Repeat with a dark color ink and heat set.
Finally, stamp the image in versamark ink and emboss with white embossing powder.

A Perpetual Family Birthday Calendar

This is a project, inspired by Pinterest, that I made for my mother-in-law's birthday.
Every year she transfers birthdays from one calendar to another, so I thought this would be a great way for her keep track of them without all the extra work.

The word family came from Hobby Lobby (scrapbooking section).  It is layered chipboard and has two hangers on the back.  I painted it teal and then attached the flowers and gems with glue dots.

My husband drilled 11 holes across the bottom to tie the months of the year to.  I cut 12 rectangles from chipboard and colored cardstock to cover them.  Stamped each month and then punched holes with my cropadile punch.  I then cut circles from chipboard and colored cardstock (42 and that's just immediate family!), punched holes top and bottom and wrote each family member's name and day of birth.  Then everything was tied together with twine.

Here are close-ups of two of the tags.  I stamped my mother-in-law and father-in-law's tags with a heart to make them stand out and show the head of the family.  I stamped my nephew's tag with a heart with wings to signify that he is no longer with us, but still holds a place in our hearts.

This project was time consuming, but I love how it turned out!

Sweet 16 Birthday Box

So, my oldest daughter turned 16 a couple of weeks ago.  We wanted to give her money to start her car fund, but wanted a cute and clever way to package it.  Here's what I did:

This was totally inspired by a fellow consultant who came up with this great idea!

I changed it up a bit by adding tags to each side, creating a pocket to slip money into.

Colors: Watermelon, Black, Baby Pink
Paper: For Always Paper Pack, Watermelon (retired)
Accessories: Liquid Applique, Black Glitter Buttons, Artiste Cricut Cartridge

February Stamp Camp Projects

Hello Everyone!

I know I've been MIA for quite a while.  Sorry for that.  Now that my children are getting older they have more activities than ever and I hate to miss them so creativity has taken a back burner for a bit.  My goal this year is to make more time for me and what I love to do, so hopefully there won't be any long absences in the future.

Now that I've rambled on a bit, let's get to the projects!  The first one is a fancy fold technique:

The picture doesn't do this technique justice.  It really is a pretty card!

Colors: Black, Slate
Paper Pack: For Always
Stamps: Pirouette Flair, Happy Birthday, Limited Edition
Accessories: White embossing powder

I decided to try something new this year.  I usually do a technique tag class every summer, but the preparation time for the class and time it takes for everyone to make all 10 tags is overwhelming.  This year, we will make one technique tag each month at stamp camp!  Here is the first one - Block Fill Technique:

Each tag comes with complete directions to attach to the back for future reference.

Colors: Creme Brulee, Black, Pear, Cotton Candy
Stamps: You're a Hoot

Until next time....

August Stamp Camp

I'm so excited!  The new fall/winter catalog went live on August 1st and it has so many great items, I dont' know where to start!  There is a new Cricut cartridge call Artiste.  It contains 700 images (3-D projects, an alphabet, shapes, cards) - what a great cutting tool!  Close To My Heart has bundled the cartridge with 3 D-size stamp sets and 3 9x12 dimensional elements chipboard shapes.  All yours for just $99 or host a $350 gathering and get it as a half-off item!

There are 8 new paper packs (all gorgeous!) and 13 new Workshop on the Go kits (scrapbooking, cardmaking and home decor projects).  There is surely something for everyone!

In addition to all this, there are tons of new stamp sets and embellishments, pigment inks, alcohol markers and the color pallette has been re-vamped a little.  I think I'm going to break the bank with this catalog!

There is a great special starting August 15 and running through September for National Stamping Month.  Spend just $35 in the new catalog and get a double D-size stamp set for just $5!  The value on this set is $35.90 - what a great deal!

This month, we will make two cards at Stamp Camp on Friday, August 10th at 7 pm.
One showcases the National Stamping Month stamp set (the bicycle card), and the other showcases the August Stamp of the Month, Baroque Borders.
The card I did using this stamp set was inspired by my Vera Bradley purse, also pictured.

Well, I hope everyone is staying cool and being creative!  Until next time...
